FAQ
Do I need an appointment?
No! No appointment is necessary to consign items.
Item selection takes place from Monday to Friday during the store's opening hours.
During your visit, please allow 10 to 15 minutes for a team member to sort the items on-site.
How many clothing items can I bring?
We ask each person to limit themselves to one (1) bag of clothing for sorting to give everyone the opportunity to consign with us and to maintain a variety of sizes in the store.
For these same reasons, we will select a maximum of five (5) clothing items per person*.
*However, there is no limit on accessories (bags, jewelry, hats, belts, wallets, and shoes).
What are your selection criteria?
Products are selected based on their appeal, style, quality, and rarity. Our choices are based on the following criteria:
TRENDS AND STYLES: Whether it’s vintage or more contemporary clothing, there’s always something interesting! We know our clientele well and want to tailor our selection to their needs.
BRANDS: We aim to offer a variety that is accessible to everyone, which is why we accept clothing and accessories from all brands (e.g., Joe Fresh $, Lululemon $$, Chanel $$$, etc.).
SIZES: We strive to provide clothing in all sizes to make our store accessible to everyone.
STORE NEEDS: Since we carefully select each item in-store, we have a good understanding of our inventory. We choose based on the immediate needs of the store.
SEASONS: We follow the spring/summer and fall/winter seasons to maximize the chances of selling selected items.
CONDITION: We stand out by offering only items that are considered like new. We inspect each item for loose threads, stains, cleanliness, and wear.
What items should be avoided?
Underwear, bras, bodysuits, tights, swimwear, wedding dresses, and household items are not accepted in the thrift store. This rule applies even if these items are new.
How do you determine prices?
To ensure that each item is priced fairly, we conduct research to find the original retail price and then determine the second-hand price, which is approximately one-third of its new value.
For example, a sweater that sold for $150 will be priced at about $50, which is one-third of the price. However, if that same sweater still has its original tag, we will price it at 50% of its retail value.
Once your items are added to your account, you will receive an email with a list detailing the description, size, and price of each item.
*If you are not satisfied with a displayed price, please contact us by email at info@habitudedesign.ca, and we will be happy to assist you.
What is my share of the profits?
Your profit percentage is 40% of the sale price of your clothing.
You will receive an email notification when one of your items sells. The amount owed to you will be automatically added to your account, and the balance will be displayed at the bottom of the email.
We reserve the right to reduce the prices of items during end-of-season sales, clearance events, and special promotions.
How can I use the profits from my sales?
When you sell items, a balance accumulates in your account. Here’s how you can use it:
• Use it to make purchases in-store (while enjoying an additional 15% discount on your purchases*)
• Request an email transfer to cash out your balance (Interac transfer)
• Use your credit for purchases at Habitude Design (via balance transfer)
• Accumulate it in your account for later use.
*Enjoy an additional 15% discount each time you use your account balance to complete your in-store purchases.
Example:
Total purchase: $100
Account balance: $20
Additional 15% discount

Total after discounts = $65
What do you do with unsold items?
At the end of the season, if some of your items remain unsold, you will receive an email with a detailed list of the items ready for pickup. You have two options:
1. Retrieve the items within 30 days of receiving this email.
2. Donate the items to Maison Libère-Elles, an organization that provides specialized support and housing for women in the region.
It is your responsibility to inform us of your decision by responding as quickly as possible to the notification email.
THE LOYALTY CARD
For each purchase, we punch a mini t-shirt in one of the slots on your card. On your tenth purchase, you'll receive 50% off the item of your choice!
Limit of one punch per day. One card per customer. Maximum discount of $100.

LA GRANDE FRIPE
Every spring and fall, Habitude organizes the largest second-hand clothing and accessories sale in Outaouais.
The event features dozens of different booths each day! You’ll find clothing for women and men in all sizes!
FASHION SHOWS
Twice a year, you are invited to attend one of our fashion shows that highlight sustainable fashion, each featuring a different theme. Each look, created by our in-house stylist, is then available for purchase. Fun and unique finds guaranteed!
FESTIVE NIGHTS
Habitude is pleased to organize various festive evenings for lovers of sustainable fashion.
• PROM? is an event that allows future graduates to find the perfect outfit at an affordable price in a celebratory atmosphere.
• Find Your Holiday Outfit is a festive evening where you can enjoy the expert advice of our in-house stylist, Pascale Lemire, while sipping a cocktail or mocktail provided by Habitude.
WRAP IT FOWARD
In collaboration with organizations in Outaouais that support individuals experiencing homelessness, Habitude organizes an annual donation drive for mittens, gloves, scarves, and hats to help combat the winter cold in Quebec.
